Blessed is the man!
The first time I heard a message on this subject
was at a men's retreat. The part of the psalm that struck me was,
"nor that standeth
in the way of sinners."
Since receiving Jesus Christ as Saviour,my
desire has been to live a life that is Christ-like.
I recognize, that people may look at
this verse differently but for me it meant not being a hypocrite in my Christian walk.
That
those who do not acknowledge Jesus as Saviour would see in me a person who walked the walk and talked the talk.
Recognizing that the psalms were written about a 1000 years before the birth of Christ, I take the liberty of changing
verses as if they were written after His birth.
The psalmist wrote in verse 2:
But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
I like to read this verse as:
"Blessed is the man who delights in Jesus and
meditates on the word day and night."
Now I understand what the psalmist was writing.
It was many years ago since I heard this message, however;
I have tried to lived
my life so that I would be a blessing to others and my epitaph would be "Blessed is the man"
We sing a chorus:
I'm not under law but under
grace
it was grace that rescued me,
It was grace that set
me free,
I'm not under law
I'm under grace.
